Nogizaka46 become “handsome men” for new CM

Girl group Nogizaka46 have transformed into “handsome men” in a brand new CM for Haruyama, a clothing brand that specializes in office wear attire. The CM is being used to promote the brands spring collection.

While Haruyama also offers women’s office wear, the Nogizaka girls actually wore items from the mens collection for the filming of the CM. Member Mai Shiraishi commented that she loved the “masculine” feeling of wearing a suit, and felt really cool. She especially had a good time filming with fellow member Sayuri Matsumura.

Nanase Nishino also participated in the CM. While everyone was getting ready in the dressing room she said the whole experience was a little surreal, it was almost like she really was in a dressing room filled with men! Overall she loved the experience however, sharing Shiraishi’s thoughts in finding everything cool.

The song used in the CM is a new track called Synchronicity, it is currently scheduled to be released as a single in April. Watch the CM and BTS footage below!

Becky stars in Beats by Dr. Dre CM feat. new song by Suiyoubi no Campanella

Talent Becky has been appointed as the new spokeswoman for the headphone brand Beats by Dr. Dre. The CM began airing nationwide in Japan today, and features a brand new song by Suiyoubi no Campanella.

The CM is being used to promote the Beatsx headphones. The wireless headphones were created using Apple’s W1 chip and apparently boasts a “surprisingly long” battery life of 2 hours of continuous play. Furthermore, the headphones can be fully charged in just 5 minutes using their “Fast Fuel” function. Just like any other standard headphone you’ll be able to use “RemoteTalk” to answer and make calls, along with access Siri.

The headphones retail for 14,800 yen and come in six different colors. Matte Gold, black, gray, matt silver, white, and blue.

In the CM Becky plays the role of a young professional business woman, who is seen enjoying her Beatsx during various activities. Who doesn’t bring their own headphones to the club?! She commented that she loves to spend a lot of time listening to music, and loves how certain memories are tied together with music as well.

She’s currently constantly listening to ONE OK ROCK’s Taking Off, Emi Nakamura’s I, Shiina Ringo’s Seishun no Matataki, and jazz artist Hiromi Uehara’s live collaboration album with Edmar Castaneda.

KOSE celebrates 21 years with Namie Amuro

Popular makeup brand KOSE is reflecting on their long history with diva Namie Amuro, most likely due to her pending retirement in September. In celebration of their relationship, they have created a special project called “NAMIE AMURO X KOSE ALL TIME BEST”.

The duos partnership began back in 1997, when Amuro was appointed the spokeswoman for their brand “visee”. The eyeliners and blush became an instant success for the company, with hordes of women buying the product to try and emulate Amuro’s style.

The next major promotional campaign highlighted was released three years later in 2000, when she was selected to promote the “Luminous” BE380 line of lipsticks. The main promotional poster and CM famously featured clones of Amuro, inciting another craze in the Japanese beauty scene.

As for her more recent campaigns, the first one KOSE chose to spotlight was their “ESPRIQUE” line of makeup. This campaign was released in 2011.

Sakanaction’s “Shin Treasure Island” appears in new Spotify CM

Band Sakanaction is gearing up for the release of their very first best album Sakana Zukan, due out on March 28th, 2018.

One of the promotional tracks from the album, Shin Treasure Island, has been selected to appear in a new Spotify CM. The CM stars rookie actor Hiroya Shimizu and idol Ayaka Miyoshi.

The CM begins in a library where almost all the books are various shades of blue, Shimizu is watching Miyoshi from a distance. Using telekinesis he “summons” a horde of books towards him to create armor, almost making him look like a robot. He gallantly walks towards Miyoshi, where they then cutely exchange smirks.

In celebration of the new CM airing nationwide Spotify has created a playlist with the concept of “Youth’s Library”. It hopes to give listeners a fresh start, when “new life” begins in Spring. The playlist is currently only available in Japan.

Watch V6 member Go Morita cry in new CM for Suntory

V6 member Go Morita has been pointed the brand new posterboy for Suntory’s beverage “The Cocktail Bar Professional”

The product won’t be released until April 3rd, 2018 which is when the CMs will also begin to air nationwide across Japan. The good news is that the full CM has already been uploaded in advance on YouTube for fans to enjoy.

In the CM Morita visits a bar, and is given a classic gin & tonic by the bartender (who is played by legendary filmmaker Ryo Iwamatsu). The drink is so delicious that Morita is reduced to tears as he sits alone at the bar.

The Cocktail Bar was originally released in 1993, and was very popular with the younger crowd. For this new version “professional” was added to the name to show off it’s more refined and high quality taste.

Morita doesn’t have much to cry about in his personal life, as he just recently celebrated his marriage with legendary actress and former idol Rie Miyazawa.

Watch Masataka Kubota swig some beer in new CM/MV for Sapporo

Actor Masataka Kubota has been selected to appear in a brand new set of CMS for Sapporo Beer’s “#NoBitterLife” campaign. The CMS began airing nationwide all across Japan beginning over the weekend.

The CM directly ties in to a music video from the band Friends, which uses footage from the MV itself. The MV for #NoBitterLife takes place at a house party, Kubota shows up right when the party is at full swing.

He’s quickly handed a beer and partakes/watches the usual party activities. Drinking, dancing, eating, professional wrestling, it’s all there! The MV features a bunch of celebrity cameo appearances, try to spot them all.

The campaign in particular is promoting Sapporo’s White Belg beer. Unlike most beer, it’s said to have a very fruity and refreshing taste, hence the hashtag “NoBitterLife”.

Meanwhile, Kubota is enjoying the success of his latest drama series Unnatural, which began airing on January 12th, 2018.

Haruka Ayase stars in adorable new CMs for gilco ice cream

Actress Haruka Ayase has been a longtime spokeswoman for Gilco, and she’s the star of a brand new nationwide CM campaigns for their “Giant” ice cream treats.

Four flavors are available. Roasted chocolate nuts, chocolate cookie chunk, vanilla cookies & cream, and the latest flavor a luxurious dark chocolate.

The CM features Ayase relaxing at home, when she gets the craving for a sweet snack. She grabs a Gilco Giant cone while singing the CM tune in the background. Two different 30 second versions of the CM were released, check them out below.

Additionally, a separate CM to promote the new dark chocolate flavor was released.  Giving a much more relaxed and sophisticated feel, the CM features Ayase coming home after a day out. She lays back in her living room while enjoying the cone.

Meanwhile, today marks the release for the DVD and Blu-ray of her successful NTV drama series Okusama wa, Tori Atsukai Chui. It will be released in a six disc boxset, a 24 page booklet will also be included with the release.

Utada Hikaru stars in new CM for Suntory, debuts new song “Play A Love Song”

Singer Utada Hikaru is the star of a brand new CM for Suntory, promoting their drink “SWITCH&SPARKLING”.

A 30 second and 60 second CM will start to play all around Japan nationwide beginning on April 24th. The drink itself will also be available on store shelves starting on the 24th. The carbonated water beverage will surly be a hit in the upcoming humid summer months.

The CM itself is a little off-reason, Utada is exploring beautiful vast landscape covered in snow. She suddenly bursts out in song and begins to run and around and play in the snow.

Her latest song Play A Love Song is featured in the CM. Utada does double duty by solely writing the lyrics and providing the composition. It will be released digitally in Japan on April 25th.

With 2018 marking Utada’s 20th anniversary, it’ll surly be an exciting year full of activities for the songstress. Check out both versions of the CM, and making-of footage below!

Yui Aragaki becomes a kindergarten teacher in adorable CM for Kleenex

Actress Yui Aragaki is the star of a brand new CM for Kleenex, it will begin to air in Japan nationwide today on May 8th, 2018.

In the CM Aragaki becomes “Yu sensei”, a kindergarten teacher. A small boy, one of her students, has a runny nose and she quickly comes to his aid by handing him a kleenex. Unable to blow his nose by himself, she gently helps him out.

Shooting for the CM took place in an actual kindergarten in Tokyo. Aragaki had tons of fun on set, she was constantly running around and playing with all the children.

In a statement Aragaki shared that she was really proud of the kids, shooting took quite long but none of them made a fuss or became overwhelmed. She further stated that the entire experience was quite “healing” for her.

They quickly grew attached to the actress, in some behind the scenes footage one of the children “tackle hugs” Aragaki, and refuses to let go! Watch the full CM below.

Fumi Nikaido stars in extravagant CM for Majolica Majorca, feat music from DAOKO

Actress Fumi Nikaido is starring in a brand new nationwide CM for the makeup brand Majolica Majorca.

Majolica Majorca is owned by the Japanese makeup giant Shiseido. They carry an assortment of beauty products such as mascara, lip tint, eye liner, nail polish, and eye brow brushes. Majolica Majorca is known for their very elegant and “royal” looking packaging.

The CM isn’t the typical 15 or 30 second one, it’s more of a “CM movie” clocking in at nearly 3 minutes. The theme of the CM is “magic”.

It begins with Nikaido in the audience of a stage performance that just ended. As the audience clears out she stares longingly at her ticket, presumably not wanting the show to end. As she begins to head out a mysterious door near the back of the venue suddenly begins to glow red.

The door has a “Majolica Majorca” symbol on it. While in the room Nikaido finds a vanity with various Majolica Majorca products and begins her glamorous transformation.

Suddenly the mysterious door opens again and Nikaido finds herself on stage, with her “past self” clapping in the audience.  The music in the CM was provided by DAOKO.

Yumi Ito (ICONIQ) selected as spokeswoman for “Spa treatment”

Actress Yumi Ito has been selected as the new face of “Spa treatment”, a luxury line of Japanese beauty products.

Ito will be promoting the iMarco patch line of products. Ranging in price from 2,400 to 8,000 yen these beauty patches have tiny micro needles inside them, so the formula permeates directly to the inside of the skin

Described as an “updated sheet mask” the most expensive patch is filled with hyaluronic acid, used to moisturize and repair aged skin. A whitening patch, acne patch, elasticity, and eye patch made out of placenta are also available.  Yes, it’s made out of the placenta you’re thinking of.

In the CM Ito wears two red wigs, while being amazed by the iMacro technology.

Ever since abandoning the ICONIQ stage name and putting a hold to her music activities, Ito has done quite a few collaborations with beauty and hair companies. She’s appeared in various supporting roles since making acting her main profession.

She will be appearing in a supporting role in the upcoming film “Neko wa Daku Mono” starring Erika Sawajiri and Ryo Yoshizawa.

Haruka Ayase wants you to drink Coca-Cola Clear

Actress Haruka Ayase has been chosen as the new campaign model for Coca-Cola Clear. Beginning on June 12th her CM will begin airing nationwide all across Japan.

Known for it’s unbearable humid summers, the CM takes full advantage of that showing a sweaty Ayase trying to cool off. After screaming into a fan she pours herself a nice cold glass of clear Coke.

After an extreme close up of her throat swallowing the liquid, the heat becomes bearable as she happily shouts in excitement.

The return of a clear cola Coke product was announced last week, exclusive at the moment for the Japanese market.  Back in the early 90s Coke attempted a clear cola product in response to Crystal Pepsi called Tab Clear. It was discounted after only two years in 1994.

Kimura Takuya dances with 80 people and asks “Are You Ready?”

Watch Kimura Takuya as he sashays his way in the PR video “Are You Ready?” for department store Sogo Seibu. The video will be up online starting on the 22nd and will broadcast on outdoor TV monitors. It aims to expand brand awareness among Asian visitors especially Chinese tourists. In mid July, the PR video will also broadcast in Sogo Hongkong and Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport, among others.

Shooting was carried out in popular tourist spot Shibuya scramble and in Seibu Shibuya branch. In the video, Kimura dances with 80 employees of the company. The CM starts with a busy shot of Shibuya scramble and 30 minutes prior to the store’s opening, Kimura vibrantly walks around asking “Are you ready?”, to which the employees responds with “OK”. The building was converted into a huge dance floor as everyone gets busy. Near the store’s opening time, tension rises up with the final shout of Kimura’s “Are you ready?”. At 10 am, the doors open with everyone making a welcome greeting to customers.

CM for Ayumi Hamasaki’s “TROUBLE” draws comparison to Namie Amuro’s “FEEL”

Earlier in the day diva Ayumi Hamasaki uploaded a CM for her upcoming “album” “TROUBLE“.

The CM consists of camera shots all around Tokyo, featuring various billboards around with the city with “TROUBLE”‘s album artwork. The CM finishes with her artwork plastered all over the buildings and billboards on a street.

 

Japanese and international fans both quickly pointed out that the exact same concept was used for promotion of Namie Amuro’s 2013 album “FEEL“.

Hamasaki’s mentions were instantly filled with confusion.

Endless replies followed drawing comparison to the “FEEL” CM.

While it might have just been an oversight from the person who created the CM for “TROUBLE”, both Hamasaki and Amuro have strong ties with avex trax so you’d think someone would notice the similarities between the two before giving it the green light.

Some fans stated that since it’s only a promotional CM it isn’t really a big deal, while others acknowledged the similarities saying they liked both CMs anyway.

“TROUBLE” will be released on August 15th, 2018. While avex is promoting the album has a brand new studio album, it’s more like an EP/mini-album considering it only has five songs.

In support of the album, Hamasaki will be embarking on a brand new tour titled “ayumi hamasaki LIVE TOUR 2018-2019 TROUBLE” beginning on October 19th.

FORTNITE x TOKIO campaign launches, catch their dance emotes!

Epic Games announced that it will be carrying out a huge promotional campaign featuring TOKIO for its popular battle royal game, FORTNITE. Starting August 10, TV commercials will be airing in major cities throughout the country. In the CM, the 4 members of TOKIO who are dressed like the popular characters in the game are seen enjoying playing the game and even dancing to the FORTNITE emotes.

Huge visuals will also be deployed in Odakyu Shinjuku station west exit area o​​and Tokyo metro Marunouchi Line Shinjuku station (B1F). Vertical digital advertisements will also be installed in several JR and Toko Metro stations which will feature a different emote dance from TOKIO members.

Shingo Katori stars in hilarious new CM for Family Mart

Actor Shinto Katori is the star of a brand new CM for the popular convenience store chain Family Mart.

The CM is promoting Family Mart’s series of side dishes known as “Mom’s dining room”. The food from the series is meant to bring a nostalgic feeling, replicating comfort food that tastes just as good as home cooking.

In the CM Katori is seen at his mother’s house enjoying a large variety of dishes. Complimenting her amazing cooking, Katori’s mother continues to make more dishes for him.  Unbeknownst to Katori, the food isn’t actually homemade as the camera shows her removing a family part food pack from boiling water on the stove.

The scene then switches to Katori running into his mother at Family Mart, exposing her “home cooking!” Watch the full CM below

It will begin airing nationwide in Japan starting on September 18th.

Meanwhile, Katori is gearing up for the release of his film “Nagi Machi” due out in 2019. It will be his first film appearance since 2015’s “Galaxy Turnpike”.

Atsuko Maeda morphs into a child for new Studio Mario CM

Former AKB48 member Atsuko Maeda recently made her very first public appearance since announcing that she was pregnant!

Either this was planned from ahead or it just so happens to be a very convenient coincidence, Maeda has been appointed the new spokeswoman of Studio Mario.

Studio Mario is one Japan’s top portrait studios for children, offering both elaborate and simple outfits for the children to be photographed in. For a flat rate of 3,000 yen an unlimited amount of photos can be taken. Outfit changes and hair styling is also free of charge.

Along with the shooting fee, a goods fee is also charged which varies highly depending on which items are chosen. You can simply have the photos printed on normal paper/ included on a DVD, or purchase extravagant frames and photo books for the photos to be housed in.

Maeda unveiled the CM at a promotional event for Studio Mario. The CM showcases a typical photo shoot at the portrait studio, with Maeda herself playing the role of a small child. Using CGI the CM makes Maeda appear as if it’s a real life “big head mode” seen in video games.

Yumi Adachi turns into a cool 80-year-old grandma for “MAGNET by SHIBUYA109”

Actress Yumi Adachi has been appointed to promote “MAGNET by SHIBUYA109“, a trendy fashion house that also doubles as an “art, entertainment, and dining hub” found in the heart of Shibuya. In a new CM the actress is transformed into a cool 80-year-old grandma!

Adachi has become quite renowned for her youthful appearance, at 37 years old she’s pretty much looked exactly the same for her entire career, which began in 1992.

The CM begins with the mysterious cool grandma posing with text flashing “Who am I?”, it then shows Adachi’s dramatic transformation and how it was accomplished. Adachi commented that the entire process was a blast, seeing herself like this was almost like being able to see herself in the future.

Adachi has recently starred in the third season of the TV Tokyo drama series “Keishicho Zero Gakari“. Check out the CM below!

Mackenyu Arata & Yuya Yagira team up for new GATSBY CM

Pretty boy actor Mackenyu Arata has teamed up with his fellow peer Yuya Yagira for a brand new GATSBY CM.

GATSBY is a popular wellness brand for men, they’re perhaps best known for their wide range of hair wax/gel products. The company also offers other hair care products including hair dye, skincare, and body care products.

The CM is promoting GAYSBY’s “Perfect Skin Lotion”, an every day facial cream. It’s recommended to be used in conjunction with GATSBY’s facial cleanser, toner, and “clean up” face lotion.

Arata and Yagira play the role of futuristic cops, they’re joined by a large variety of eccentric characters who are also a part of the police force. Not your typical skincare CM. Check it out below!

Arata is currently enjoying the immense success of the Code Blue film. Yagira also appeared in a summer film hit, reprising his role as Toshiro Hijikata in “Gintama“.

Jun Matsumoto wants to prevent you from catching a cold, appointed new spokesman for “Lulu Attack EX”

Arashi member Jun Matsumoto has been appointed the new spokesman for “Lulu Attack EX“.

“Lulu Attack EX” is a drug used to help prevent colds, or treat them if you already caught it. It has many anti-inflammatory ingredients which are especially effective when dealing with sore throats, fevers, and heavy coughing.

The pills also contain “clemastine fumarate” which help remove phlegm and clear up stuffy throats.

In the CM Matsumoto wants to save the world from colds! He basically plays the role of a superhero who helps cure sick civilians using his “special powers”. Matsumoto revealed in a press conference that he did all of his own stunts for the commercial.

He was required to be suspended over 6 meters in the air via a wire harness, and run across a wall. Matsumoto had a bit of difficulty perfecting the “5 turn”, but everything turned out okay in the end. When seeing the commercial for the first time Matsumoto exclaimed “I’m cool!” causing the press to burst out in laughter.

With more chilly weather approaching fast Matsumoto was also asked his favorite remedies for treating a cold, he revealed that taking a long hot bath and ingesting a ton of honey are his favorite methods.

The CM will begin to air nationwide all across Japan beginning on September 29th. Check out both versions below!
